History of Ouseburn Valley Area Newcastle Upon Tyne

The Ouseburn Valley was a heavily industrialised valley in the East end of Newcastle upon Tyne, England. Since then the lower part of the valley has developed into a cultural oasis. The Ouseburn is a small river.

Now spanned by three impressive bridges, the Lower Ouseburn was the focal point for the beginnings of the Industrial Revolution in Newcastle with Coal brought from the town Moor along the Victoria Tunnel where the tidal nature of the Ouse allowed Wherries, the local barges, to be loaded at low tide and pulled out to the Collier Brigs and Snows waiting in the Tyne.

This Industrial heritage has left many large buildings, in the 1970s, the local creative Art community began to utilise many buildings as creative workspaces, these Artists, musicians and performers led the regeneration of the area which is now marketed as a trendy place to live. http://bit.ly/cX3ZTh

Sun is out up in Newcastle Upon Tyne and we can sense summer on its way.

Why not take a day out this weekend for a relaxing stroll through Jesmond dene and then onto the the Quayside via Ouseburns Arty Valley.

And come visit ourselves and our neighbours in the area, Digital Print, Alison Groves Photogrpahy, Biscuit Factory, Cobalt Studios, Ouseburn Studios, Lime Street, and of course Refunk Your Junk & Recycle Your Furniture.. why not even take a horse ride at Stepney Stables... or stop for a cwaffy in the cluney, Ship or Northern Print??. and im sure there is so much more to try out that we havnt listed.

Viewing is always free sadly the coffee isnt..

And finish it off with a stroll on the quayside.

Hi all just to let those of you know, we are now back accepting collections on a sadly on a limited service and space permitted. Our main collection day is Friday.. Sadly this is a big cut back from our original 7 days a week collection service due to our van being temporarily off the road.

Feel free to give us a call if you want to save an item from the tip, and if we cant help we will happily advise you on who can and the best ways to avoid adding your unwanted furniture to the refuse tip. We work mainly with hard wood furniture to refresh and restyle items for a new home.
